'Make sure the house is spotless by 5 pm': Guests cancel their $2000/night Airbnb reservation after the hosts demand they clean up after the previous guest

Home-sharing apps have gotten out of control. People saw the opportunity to get rich quickly with a ramshackle house in a decent area, and realized that they could flip an insane profit off the backs of their guests. Naturally, riding the coattails of the hard work of the guests staying in their house. Because when there's a corner to cut, you better believe that landlord types will be taking advantage of it. 

Maybe I'll never truly understand rich people's entitlement, but it seems very out of pocket to ask a stranger to clean YOUR house after charging them a cleaning fee. Perhaps this host will learn a lesson after losing out on their supplemental income.

  • If someone was willing to do this the owner should be paying them -- if you come into a messy place and leave it spotless before 5 PM it sounds like you are a cleaning service.

  • This Airbnb host was no different from the rest. After charging $2000 per night for their poolside mansion, they had the gall to demand that their guests clean up. And no, they didn't mean that they should clean up after themselves following their single-night stay; they insisted that they clean up after the guest prior to them, just to ensure the house was ready for their return after their European vacation. Hmm, it appears that someone's entitlement made them miss the plot.
